Privacy & POPIA notice

Above & Beyond Premium Visual Media (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This notice explains what we collect through this website, why, and what rights you have over it.

Information we collect

Contact form — name, email address, phone number, the services you’re interested in, a general or shoot location (only if you select photography/videography), and any comments you add.

Shop orders — name, email, phone, and billing/shipping address, taken at checkout to fulfil and deliver your order.

Monthly subscriptions — if you set up a recurring monthly payment with us (for example for website hosting or management), Payfast sends us a confirmation of each payment containing your name, email address, the amount paid, and a reference for your subscription. Your card details are entered on Payfast’s own secure payment page and are never seen or stored by us.

We only ask for what we need to respond to you, process your order, or bill your subscription.

How we use it

To reply to enquiries submitted through the contact form, and to process, fulfil, and communicate with you about shop orders. For monthly subscriptions, to confirm that each payment has been received and to let us know promptly if a payment fails, so we can sort it out with you before your service is affected. We don’t use this information for marketing unless you separately opt in, and we don’t sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Who we share it with

Contact form submissions are delivered to us by email via Resend, our email delivery provider. Orders are processed through our WooCommerce store backend and Payfast, our payment gateway, to handle payment securely. Monthly subscriptions are processed by Payfast, and the payment confirmations they send us are stored with Supabase, our database provider. These providers process information on our behalf and may store or transmit it outside South Africa as part of delivering their service.

Cookies

The shop uses two strictly-necessary, httpOnly cookies (wc_cart_token, wc_cart_nonce) to keep track of your cart between requests. We don’t use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

Retention

Contact enquiries are kept in our business email inbox for as long as needed to respond and keep a record of the conversation. Order records and subscription payment records are retained for as long as required for accounting, warranty, and legal purposes.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you can ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, request a copy of it, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how it’s processed. You can also lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator if you believe we haven’t handled your information properly.
